The Danish Royal Theatre

The Danish Royal Theatre has since 1748 been located at Kongens Nytorv (King’s New Square) just a few minutes from d’Angleterre, and the theatre comprises four forms of art: acting, opera, ballet and orchestra.

Located just a few minutes from d’Angleterre, the Kongens Nytorv (or “King’s New Square”) is home to one of the city’s most beloved institutions, The Danish Royal Theatre. Opened in 1748, The Danish Royal Theatre was originally built for the Danish King, but remained accessible to Copenhagen residents at large. Over the course of the last 10 years, the theatre has undergone a tremendous renaissance. Today, the Royal Danish Theatre is comprised of the Old Stage, located at Kongens Nytorv, as well as the Opera House, the Royal Danish Playhouse and the stagecraft workshops housed within the old B&W shipyard near the Opera House.
