Dual exhibition
From 13 March to 12 June 2026, discover the artworks of Kristoffer Varming and Simon Sebastian in Marchal and the Upper Lobby.
This dual exhibition reflects d’Angleterre’s dedication to art and culture, and to creating inspiring encounters between guests and contemporary creativity.
We invite you to experience first-hand the dynamic relationship between the artworks on the walls and the artistry on the plates.
Kristoffer Varming
Kristoffer Varming's art combines digital and analog tools, exploring the transformative possibilities of photography, digital manipulation, printing, scanning, and diverse painting techniques. Unlike realistic figurative painting, he incorporates figurative images abstractly to convey a distinctive visual impression.
The convergence of painting, relief, print, and collaging drives his practice, emphasizing a unique visual impact. Varming’s fascination with material, image, and experimentation began with digital art in 2015 and remains integral to his current practice.
Born in Copenhagen, Kristoffer's artistic journey reflects a continuous exploration shaped by experiences in Danish art schools, a transformative Berlin residency, and his current studies in Zürich.
Simon Sebastian
Simon Sebastian’s artistic practice goes beyond conventional boundaries; he is not merely an artist but also a collector. Inspired by urban space, he challenges the city's identity, symbols, and repetitions in his practice. Through his artworks, he creates artistic abstractions and interpretations that both directly and indirectly refer to and integrate elements collected from the city's architecture, cultural history, and urban fabric. Objects such as posters, poster columns, and city gates provide as inspiration for playful, vibrant time-images.
His artistic approach emphasizes recycling and site-specificity, utilizing mixed media materials such as plaster, tin, oil, and acrylic paint, alongside found objects. Simon Sebastian's artistic exploration extends beyond traditional mediums as he continually experiments with new techniques, including 3D-print sculptures, prints, and collages on posters.
Simon Sebastian (b. 1996), lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He holds a BFA from The Art Academy – Department of Contemporary Art, University of Bergen, and The National School of Art of Paris-Cergy.
